What species of wood do you use? Our standard material is Eastern White Pine with Western Red Cedar available at additional cost. Red Pine, Western Pine, Lodgepole Pine, Engleman Spruce and other species are also available.
How do you process your wood?Using a proprietary process to ensure even drying for minimal checking, twisting and warping, green timbers are kiln-dried for as much as ten weeks, until the average moisture content is reduced to 15%. The final treatment is at the conclusion of construction when preservative (supplied with Complete Shell Kit) is applied to prevent wood rot, repel water, absorb ultraviolet light and inhibit surface mildew.
Who will build my home? Some owners prefer to buy just the materials (log package, weathertight shell, etc.) and make their own arrangements for construction. If you need further help there are several options;
Turnkey by RippleCraft We have our own crews who, depending on your location and schedule, can assume complete responsibility for the construction of your home.
Log wall erected by RippleCraft Cost will depend on the particular plan and the distance from the factory to your building site. Normally the total cost will be in the range of $3,000 to $8,000 for locations in North America.
Turnkey or partial construction by a local builder We can provide any experienced builder the assistance needed to assemble our kit and/or interface the remaining building components to the log shell.
What will it cost to complete a Log Package or Weathertight Shell kit? Because there is such a wide variance in local building costs we cannot provide estimates for the total cost to finish one of these kits. However, the cost will generally be similar to that of a conventional home of comparable size and quality.
What if we want to design our own plan? We will work with you to develop exactly the plan you want. If you give us a sketch or mark up changes on one of our existing plans, we will provide a budgetary estimate (accurate to within 10%) at no charge. To provide a more precise quote we will need drawings from a qualified designer. If you elect to use one of our designers (which we recommend, since they are familiar with our technology) the charge for design services and blueprints is typically $1,000 to $1,500.
What are your normal delivery times? You should normally allow 12 weeks from order date to shipment; however as with all manufacturing processes, these lead times can fluctuate considerably. Most of our customers maintain close contact with us during the planning stages of their log home so that we can accommodate our schedules to their needs.
Do you have model homes? Depending upon where you live, we may have owner-occupied homes available for showing. Please contact us to make the necessary arrangements.
How much will it cost to ship a kit to my building site? In the continental states we estimate shipping charges at $1.80 to $2.25 per loaded mile per truck load. Shipments are from Fairview, Michigan (approximately 200 miles north of Detroit.) We do ship our products internationally. Shipping costs will vary according to region.
What are the standard payment terms? Our standard payment terms are ten percent (10%) down at the execution of contract, an additional forty percent (40%) 30 days prior to scheduled start of production, and the balance upon delivery of materials.
What support can we expect? You will receive whatever support and assistance is necessary to assure that your RippleCraft Log Home meets your expectations, as defined by the contract we will enter into when you place your order.
With so many log home manufactures in the market, why should I choose RippleCraft? We are not a huge manufacturer of log homes but have the capacity to produce 100 homes per year with additional production capacity available for large, single-site developments. While this makes us less noticeable than the behemoths in the industry, it does allow us to produce homes in a quality manner. Our manufacturing system is based on sound engineering. There are only three places in a log home where logs interface. One is where logs meet in the corner. A second area is where logs stack atop one another. The third area is where logs butt together in the same row. RippleCraft has addressed each of these interfaces to eliminate air infiltration. From an engineering standpoint, we simply make one of the best homes available on the market. When you add our product lines with our design services and support, there simply isn’t a better choice that you can make.
